Since 2008, East Coast Roofing, Siding & Windows has embarked on a mission to give at least one deserving First Responder in the Military, Police, Fire, or EMT a new roof in time for Christmas. Our Annual Roof Giveaway nominations are given by the members of the surrounding communities and the final decision of a winner is made by our staff. With our partners at ABC Supply, Apex Gutters, and Clean Lines Painting and Powerwashing, we were able to give a free roof to two very deserving nominees. Thank you for your nominations!

13th Annual Roof Giveaway Winners
(Gloucester County Winner)
Julie is a retired EMT from the Newfield Ambulance Corp. She is now a janitor at a Milanesi Elementary School. She was nominated by her sister, Frances Scarborough. Frances says Julie never says no and will help anyone with anything. Julie has been living with leaks in her roof for 10 years and the shingles are crumpling. She has not been able to afford fixing her roof.
(Atlantic County Winner)
John has been a volunteer firefighter with Scullville Volunteer Fire Company for 34 years since he joined at the age of 19. He is also actively involved in the Atlantic County Fireman’s Relief Association. John was nominated by his Son-in-law and coworker, Gregory Gaskill. John’s wife is disabled after beating cancer in 2011, which has been a struggle financially for John. Gregory says the condition of the roof has led to various leaks in the home, and potentially mold in the sheetrock.

Maggie Helliwell (Camden County Winner)
Maggie was nominated by her close friends Albert and Melissa who help care for her 1 yr. old daughter Victoria. Maggie is a single mother working several jobs to make ends meet to provide a home for Victoria to grow up in and has fallen on hard times. She hasn’t had the finances to fix the leaking roof or do any repairs. It’s our honor to award her today as a thank you for the time she served in the National Guard, and also her Father in Florida who has a long history of Navy and Military service including Vietnam. Maggie resides in the family home she grew up in and we couldn’t be happier to make sure this home has a strong roof overhead for generations to come.
Frank Kearns (Atlantic County Winner)
Frank was nominate by his son, Andrew who has moved into help care for his father after dealing with serious medical issues. His long list of volunteer work includes decades of service to the Bargaintown Fire Dept, EHT Police and Fire Dept., Community Food Bank and even opening up his home to those in need. Frank was an elected member of the EHT school board, zoning and planning and is a retired EHT teacher. Alongside of these amazing accomplishments, he is known as a pillar in the Community and we couldn’t be more honored to award him this gift for all he has given of himself!
